Singapore Oceanarium

Did you hear the news? The famous S.E.A. Aquarium is being revamped to become bigger, better and even more jaw-dropping than it was before. Trust us, if any of your kids show the slightest interest in the ocean and its creatures, this is the place to bring them. Singapore’s Oceanarium promises an enriching, immersive experience that will introduce kids to the ocean’s history and importance to our ecological system.

Be wowed by life-sized animatronics of prehistoric ocean creatures and intricate fossil displays. To make the experience fully authentic, the Singapore Oceanarium has even set up live habitats of these ancient creatures for your budding marine biologists to inspect and learn more about how they survived.

And that’s not all: More highlights include an aquarium with over a thousand beautiful species of jellyfish – aptly called Moon Jellies – in one of the world’s largest Kriesel habitats. Don’t forget to snap a few pics of your little ones posing with these quirky creatures as a keepsake of this memorable experience!

Of course, these are just to name a few of the many exhibits to look forward to in the Singapore Oceanarium. Keep an eye out for the exhibit on the fascinating scientific phenomenon of entire ecosystems living on whalefall, and the interesting showcase about Singapore’s coastline. Without a doubt, ONE can safely say that a trip to the Singapore Oceanarium is sure to be a family day out full of fun and adventurous discovery!

Celebrate With Miffy’s Birthday Beach Party

We all know about the iconic Miffy rabbit, don’t we? That cute, blank-faced stare has been printed on millions of plushies, mugs and a host of other merchandise all around the world. Well, did you also know that Miffy is turning 70 this year? And, we’re celebrating that in style at Changi Airport, with a ton of kid-friendly activities to keep everyone engaged on this family day out.

Drop by Miffy’s Beach Party Bounce, where your kids can look forward to a sprawling inflatable playground complete with a ginormous ball pit they can dive right into! The theme of the playground is meant to mimic a sandcastle by the beach, with the inflatables coloured a warm orange and striking blue – perfect for taking photos of your sweet kids.

And speaking of photo-taking, there are several interactive photo spots scattered throughout each terminal. Why not make a game of it and try to hunt each one down? Believe us, the effort is well worth it: Miffy definitely went all out on the photoshoot decorations. From a towering, larger-than-life 3D birthday cake to an adorable Miffy cutout by the stairs, your kids will definitely enjoy channeling their inner influencers and posing beside these hot photo spots.

Don’t Miss The NDP Fireworks On Your Family Day Out!

National Day is coming up, so you know what that means… yep! The NDP fireworks will be showing once again. Here’s a list of the showing dates in July:

  • 12 July
  • 19 July
  • 26 July

And hear us out – the NDP Parade on National Day itself is cool and all, but the NDP fireworks preview is… ABSOLUTELY FREE. Need we say more?

Why not close your perfect family day out with a glimpse of the breathtaking fireworks? There are plenty of great spots scattered all around Singapore where you can catch this amazing sight. We at ONE Intervention recommend the classic Marina Barrage, where you can bring your entire family and spread out a picnic mat on the rooftop for dinner and a show. Or, if you’d like to see the fireworks against the backdrop of Singapore’s stunning skyline, check out the Waterfront Promenade.

Seriously, though – you don’t want to miss the fireworks. How often can you see them in Singapore? And (it bears repetition) for free? Come on, grab the picnic mat and go already!

Stop And Smell The Roses At Gardens By The Bay On Your Family Day Out!

Of course, we couldn’t finish this list of family day out ideas without listing the ever-iconic Gardens By The Bay. It’s a classic for a good reason, which is – the floral displays and creative exhibitions are to die for. This July, the theme of their new showing at the Floral Dome is Rose Romance and it’s exactly what it sounds like.

Roses have long been synonymous with romance, spanning across the long and vast English history. To celebrate that, Gardens By The Bay’s showing features over a thousand varieties of roses, all in full bloom. And to top it off, the exhibit boasts a recreation of the Caernarfon Castle of Wales, said to be the real-life location of Camelot which is the setting of many Arthurian myths involving the rose. That’s some legendary (ha, see what we did there?) stuff there!

If you’d like to sprinkle in a little bit of education for the kids, you could also introduce them to the various types of roses and their different colours, too. You’d be surprised – there are far more colours for roses beyond just red or pink. Be sure to take lots of photographs, and of course, celebrate love on this family day out!
